To Animate or Not... That is the Question
For this project, one of my goals visually, is to fade in and out of reality using animation. However, as I work through character screen tests, I am loving this animated aesthetic more and more. Whatever shall I do? What a dilemma!
The process of animation for me has been rigorous, even with custom characters that have pre-defined animations. There are rarely easy transitions from one movement to the next in animated worlds, so I have to find creative ways to make a scene work. Usually this involves a variety of camera shots to cut between animations.
However, in animating myself in character, the process becomes more simplified as I don’t have to search for, or create custom animations. I can produce them with my body. Facial expressions are more authentic and lines and colors become more defined. I love the possibilities and the options I have available to tell this story.
